unadrift: (meeting)

These days I'm made of squeeee!

Because I'm going to be at the Meet the Hewletts event in London with [livejournal.com profile] tacit_uk and [personal profile] naye! We've got tickets and rooms, and really, this will be my first fannish RL experience, and I'd love to board the plane *right fucking now*, except it's still over two months. *sighs*

So, anyone else who's going to be there? Say god, yes, of course!

Also, more fannish stuff, because I'm so in the mood:
Updated my McKay/Sheppard fic recs. The newly added recs are listed by category here.

Hurt/Comfort and Angst

Shielded in my Armour by nakedwesley
Rated NC-17, 6300 words. John doesn't like to be touched.

Romance

High as Heaven and We Now Return You to Your Regularly Scheduled Crisis by siegeofangels
Rated R, 850 and 8300 words; for the John/Rodney/Atlantis. (Really!)
"I'm still a little wired from the chair," Sheppard says, fiddling with the zipper on his jacket, his eyes open just a little too wide, and walks past Rodney into the room, reaching out to touch things like the wall or one of Rodney's photos, wandering aimlessly.

His Way Through the Constellation by ToraK
Rated PG-13, 8200 words; for amnesiac John.
They find him by chance. They've looked and looked for the past six months and found nothing, no clue. Then Katie Brown and a couple of the new Marines go off-world to investigate some alien flora, get distracted by a market and find him there; not for sale, as Rodney immediately assumes on hearing, but working the stalls, healthy and whole and free as you like.

Only Grumpier and with Darker Hair by Lenore
Rated NC-17, 10000 words; for female Rodney, who flashes the entire mess.
"You can stay if you want," Rodney mumbled. "But turn off the light."
John looked up at the ceiling. "This is my room, Rodney."
"Oh," he said into the pillow, and then he was snoring.

Humor and Adventure

70/30 by semivowel
Rated R, three parts, 11000 words (go for the improved ending); for John being turned gay by an artifact, simple as that - or really not quite.
The Ancient artifact hadn’t seemed to do much of anything at the time – just glowed faintly green. In fact, that’s the only reason he remembers it at all. In John’s experience, unidentified 10,000 year old technology tends to turn blue, red, or possibly yellow in his presence. So he remembers thinking the green was kind of unusual. In retrospect he thinks it should have turned neon pink and starting playing disco hits. At least then he would have had a little warning.

Checklist by mercuriosity
Rated NC-17, 4500 words.
"I'm thinking you need some kind of list, Colonel," he said, his hands framing an imaginary document in the air. "If you really are that clueless, I mean."
"Give it a rest, Rodney," John said, without much hope--his best bet was just to walk as fast as he could back to his quarters, and hope Rodney would get tired of his little joke sooner rather than later.
"101 Ways to Tell if This Week's Alien Hottie is Making Eyes at You," Rodney shouted after him. "Number one: Does she have eyes?"

AUs

Junk Cheap by devildoll
Rated R, 13000 words. The one with the professor and the shop owner.

Rights of Man by unamaga
Rated R, 2300 words. The one with the president and the chief of staff.

Hot Stuff

Girlfriend by Resonant
Rated NC-17, 6300 words; for the genderswitch, and for Rodney's infinite blunt curiosity.

Good Timing by toft_froggy
Rated NC-17, 2400 words; for the guh, and because it keeps you wondering until the end.
He can't believe he's doing this. Jesus Christ. It was the low, hot certainty in Rodney's voice, the way his eyes didn't even flicker like they always do when he's not telling the absolute, entire truth, the way he stuck his chin up as his face started flushing and stared at John like he was daring him to contradict him.

Kiss Me, I'm an Earthling! and Earth Boys Are Easy by etben
Rated PG-13 and NC-17 respectively, 3300 and 4300 words, John/Rodney/Ronon/Teyla OT4; for the kissing, lots of it.

Words, Words, Words by briar_pipe
Rated NC-17, 4400 words; for the huh factor and the very unusual - is it a kink?
John wants to tell him, wants to explain, but it's not entirely his own story to tell anymore, and anyway, Rodney's eyes are boring holes through his skull, trying to tease the answers out by telepathy.
